UDA Schedules Repeat Grassroots Elections in 42 Counties

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has officially announced the scheduling of repeat grassroots elections at designated polling centers across 42 counties, addressing disputes that emerged from recent party polls.

On Thursday, January 22, 2026, the party shared this announcement on its official X account, providing details from the National Elections Board (NEB). The published documents specify the affected areas and outline the timetable for the repeat elections.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) and the Elections and Nominations Dispute Resolution Committee (ENDRC) thoroughly reviewed the complaints submitted following the grassroots elections. Based on their findings, the party decided to conduct repeat elections in specific polling centers where issues were reported, rather than reinitiating the entire election process.

The notice states, “The Committee resolved that the Party shall conduct repeat elections in SELECT polling centres across the 42 counties on the 7th of March 2026 for Phase III elections and on the 28th of March 2026 for Phase II elections.”

UDA will carry out the Phase III repeat elections on March 7, 2026, followed by the Phase II repeat elections on March 28, 2026. Registration for aspirants commenced on January 21 and will close on February 21, 2026. The party encourages interested members to apply through its online portal, which provides a list of the affected polling centers and available positions.

Affected Counties and Wards

One notice identifies 20 counties scheduled for Phase III repeat elections on March 7. These include Meru, Tharaka-Nithi, Embu, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Samburu, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Baringo, Laikipia, Nakuru, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, and Vihiga.

Additionally, the document specifies particular wards where fresh elections will occur on the same date, including Evurore and Mumininji wards in Embu County and West Kabras ward in Kakamega County.

A separate notice outlines the Phase II repeat elections scheduled for March 28, which will take place in 22 counties: Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Tana River, Lamu, Taita Taveta, Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, Marsabit, Isiolo, Kitui, Machakos, Makueni, Turkana, Kajiado, Bungoma, Siaya, Kisumu, Migori, Kisii, and Nyamira.

The party clarified that aspirants who previously registered for the affected centers do not need to re-register. However, new aspirants must complete their registration within the designated timeline. All earlier registrants should verify whether their polling center appears on the repeat list and ensure their participation as required.
