Police in Siaya County have launched investigations into the brutal mysterious death of a teen, an 18-year-old woman whose body was found dumped by the roadside in Achage Village, Nyandiwa Sub-location.
According to a police in Siaya report, two men discovered the 18-year-old womans’ body on Sunday evening while passing through the area. They immediately alerted the village elder, who then informed the authorities that is the Police in Siaya County.
Officers from Siaya Police Station arrived at the scene, processed the area for evidence, and moved the body to the Siaya County Referral Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination.
The deceased was identified as Christine Achieng, a young bartender who lived and worked in Usenge, Bondo Sub-county. Her sister confirmed her identity after being notified by a local resident who recognized her.
Police reported that the body appeared freshly deceased, with visible blood stains on the chest. Although Christine was fully dressed, her undergarments were found beside her body, raising strong suspicion of sexual assault before her death.
Residents of Achage Village have expressed deep shock and fear following the incident, terming it one of the most disturbing crimes in recent months. They are calling on authorities to increase night patrols and enhance security, especially for young women who work late hours.
Local leaders and women’s rights advocates have condemned the killing, urging the police to fast-track investigations and ensure justice is served. They also emphasized the need for stronger community policing and awareness campaigns to address gender-based violence and protect vulnerable women.
No arrests have been made so far, but detectives say investigations are ongoing. The family of the deceased has pleaded for justice and called on anyone with information to report to the nearest police station.
