Ichung’wah: Raila Regretted Kenya’s Snail-paced Growth

Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung’wa has claimed that the late Raila Odinga regretted the condition of Kenya’s infrastructure.

According to Ichung’wah, who spoke to a local television station on Sunday, October 26, 2025, the former prime minister frequently expressed concern that Kenya was lagging behind its neighbors in important areas of development, especially housing and transportation.

Ichung’wah described Raila as a good asset to the government and said his concerns went beyond politics. “The late Raila was a good asset to the government,” Ichung’wah said in reference to his regret. He persisted in urging Kenya to invest in building projects.

During one of the Machakos meetings, he expressed regret that Kenya is the only nation lacking a good airport. “They have surpassed Kenya,” Ichung’wah said, citing Rwanda as an example.

The lawmaker claimed that Raila continuously pushed for funding for major projects and urged the government to disregard the opinions of those who lack the necessary skills.
