You Are Stingy: Peter Kaluma Slams Maraga

Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma has taken a swipe at retired Chief Justice David Maraga, dismissing him as “a miser” for opposing the government-backed victims compensation scheme.

In the MP’s statement on his X account on Sunday, September 28, 2025, Kaluma accused Maraga of hypocrisy, saying the former CJ draws over Ksh5 million in monthly retirement perks yet “cannot part with even bus fare for the youth.”

“This joker takes home millions every month in retirement benefits but is too mean to give youths fare,” Kaluma charged.

He further faulted Maraga for styling himself as the “Gen Z candidate” while allegedly taking advantage of families that lost loved ones to police brutality during the past demonstrations against elections malpractices.

“He loiters around with Kenyan women whose children died, pretending to seek justice for them, yet he opposes the compensation team and the arrangement instituted by the Broad-Based Government,” Kaluma said.

Maraga’s Vision for 2027

MP Kaluma’s remarks come just weeks after Maraga reiterated his campaign pledge to anchor his presidency on constitutionalism and the rule of law.

During a rally on September 9, 2025, Maraga promised a government that respects justice and humanity.

“A future with me as president is a future where Kenyans will run their own affairs under the rule of law. We are going to have a country that gives back humanity to its people,” he declared.

Maraga, who launched his presidential bid in June under the slogan “Maraga’27”, insists his run is about service and not personal enrichment. His campaign pillars rest on integrity, transparency, and fidelity to the Constitution and the rule of law.
