The Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) secretariat has so far collected a total of 1.5 million signatures.
Speaking via a press release on Monday the 30th of November 2020, the joint committee ,co-chaired by Former Dagoreti MP Dennis Waweru and Suna East MP Junet Mohammed said it was as well expecting to collect at least 2 million signatures by the end of the day.
In an exercise expected to end on Thursday the 3rd of December 2020, the committee said the so far collected signatures included those appended on an online app capacity, that was launched by ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga and the President, Uhuru Kenyatta last week Wednesday at the KICC.
The BBI required a total of a million signatures of registered voters to qualify as a constitutional Amendment Bill.
The Secretariat is expected to submit the signatures and amendment Bill before the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission for verification on the 9th of December.
The team as well appealed to the hardliners to take time and read the Bill document ,terming the document as a well thought document that is set to change the country for the better.
