Party has taken a step to punish Daadab MP Farah Maalim for inflammatory remarks that the member of parliament said on protesters.
Mr Farah Maalim, who is also Wiper party leader, was captured in a viral video doing rounds on line. The MP was captured saying that if he was the President of this republic (Kenya), he would be slaughtering 5,000 demonstrators every day.
However, Mr Farah has since distanced himself from the viral video, saying that the said video has been doctored.
Wiper Party leadership, led by its leader Kalonzo Musyoka, have vowed to take stern action against the legislator, saying the MP went against Wiper’s ideals.
Mr Farah is also said to be among those members of parliament who went against party ideals by voting ‘Yes’ to the punitive Finance Bill 2024, which elicited uproar in Kenya a fortnight ago.
Faarah’s punishment will also affect three other legislators who also voted for the Bill. The three are Kisii Women Rep Doris Donya Toto, Taita Taveta MP John Okano Bwire and nominated MP Abubakar Ahmed.
“They have repeatedly gone against party position. The four received invitation to attend today’s NEC meeting. They all failed to attend, and haven’t tendered any apologies either. Their cases have been deferred to party’s desceplinary committee, said Wiper Party secretary general Shakila Abdala.
These developments came as the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) sermoned the Deputy Speaker (Farah Maalim) to appear before it.
