Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba has come out strongly with fresh accusations against former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
In a detailed Facebook post, she claimed that Gachagua personally created a WhatsApp group whose purpose was to plan how to steal former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s sheep. She further alleged that Gachagua went on to convene a meeting of Mt. Kenya leaders at Thika Greens, where money was raised to finance the operation.
According to Wamuchomba, she was later removed from the group after declaring she wanted nothing to do with the plan. She now challenges Gachagua to take her to court if her claims are untrue, saying she is ready to stand by every word she has said.
Wamuchomba accused the Deputy President of hypocrisy, saying it was ironic for him to now talk about Mt. Kenya unity when he allegedly played a big role in dividing the region when he wielded power. “It’s both laughable and hypocritical,” she said, “that the same person who tore us apart is now pretending to bring us together.”
Her statement has reignited debate across political circles, with some demanding a deeper probe into her claims while others see it as political score-settling. Wamuchomba insists, however, that she spoke out of principle and will not be silent in the face of what she believes is deception and betrayal of the Mt. Kenya community.
