A devastating road accident occurred along the Londiani-Muhoroni road on Monday night at approximately 9:30 PM, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and serious injuries to 56 others.
The collision involved a passenger Nyar Ugenya bus traveling towards Nairobi and a truck heading in the direction of Muhoroni.
According to a police report, the bus veered off the road and plunged into a sugarcane field on the left side as it approached Londiani. The unfortunate incident claimed the lives of one male passenger and three female passengers, all of whom died at the scene.
Emergency responders swiftly transported the injured to several local hospitals, including St. Vincent Mission Hospital, Koru Mission Hospital, and Muhoroni Subcounty Hospital. In a bid to provide specialized care, four of the injured were later transferred to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) in Kisumu.
The bodies of the deceased have been taken to St. Vincent de Paul Hospital Mortuary for preservation, where they will await identification by their next of kin and subsequent autopsy.
This tragic accident has left the community in mourning, as families grapple with the loss and the impact of this calamity.
