Kileleshwa Ward MCA Robert Alai has expressed his support for the statement made by Winnie Odinga from the East African Legislative Assembly, in which she dismissed Oketch Salah’s widely circulated claims regarding private conversations with the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Alai characterized Oketch Salah as untrustworthy, aligning himself with Winnie Odinga’s assertion that the self-proclaimed adopted son of Raila Odinga may be fabricating his accounts of interactions with the former prime minister prior to his passing.
“Regarding Oketch Salah, I concur with Winnie. I do not know or trust him,” Alai remarked on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.
Winnie Odinga’s Position
Alai’s comments follow an interview in which Winnie Odinga vehemently contested Oketch’s assertions about his encounters with Raila Odinga during the latter’s hospitalization in India.
“I have never met Oketch Salah. He is not Raila’s adopted son. Individuals like him belong in Mathare Hospital,” Winnie stated.
Oketch’s Reaction
Since Raila’s death, Oketch has been vocal about his status as the late prime minister’s adopted son, recounting his experiences during their time together in the hospital.
In a response shared on his social media platforms on Wednesday, January 26, 2026, Oketch affirmed his commitment to his narrative about his time with Raila Odinga, describing those moments as genuine and heart-wrenching. He indicated his intention to address Winnie’s remarks in a forthcoming interview.
“Out of respect for Her Excellency the Ambassador, Mama Ida Min Piny from Migori, I opted to remain silent. This decision was intentional. However, certain matters require clarification. I stand by everything I shared about my final moments with Baba. Those moments were authentic, painful, and lived. I will provide a detailed response in an interview soon,” Oketch stated.
