
President William Ruto has expressed his condolences following a devastating mid-air collision near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in the United States.
The incident involved a passenger jet carrying 64 people and a military Black Hawk helicopter.
In a heartfelt message posted on X, President Ruto extended his sympathies to the victims, their families, and the people of the United States. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of the tragic air accident in Washington, D.C.,” he stated.
He further prayed for strength and comfort for those affected, including former President Donald Trump and the American nation. “May the Almighty grant strength to the families, President Donald Trump, and the people of the United States during this difficult time,” Ruto added.
Authorities have confirmed that at least 19 bodies have been recovered so far, as search and rescue operations continue along the Potomac River. The operation remains ongoing, with hopes of finding survivors dwindling as time passes.
The international community has joined in mourning the lives lost in this tragic accident, as investigations into the cause of the collision are expected to commence soon.
