Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga’s homes have been on spotlight of police following the recovery of firearms in one of the houses.

On May 12, Njenga alleged that three of his homes in Nairobi, Nakuru and Laikipia were raided by the police, and that he himself doesn’t know why the raid was done to an innocent person.

Detectives in Nakuru have have been implicating a serious crimes in the area with the discovery of two firearms and 90 roles of bhang in a house, in Nakuru, to the former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga.

“One of the firearms recovered was a home-made pistol capable of firing while the other one was a Tokarev whose serial number had been defaced,” police said.

Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Mohamed Amin said in a statement on Monday evening that the items were recovered following a raid mounted by detectives at Ngomongo village in Dundori ward.

The former Mungiki leader is said to be a reformed man after he supposedly quit any involvements with the outlawed sect.

The former Mungiki leader had also gone ahead to declare that he was saved, and he ended up opening a church, with him being the pastor in the church.
Maina Njenga has also tried – more than twice – his hands in politics, but things haven’t gone his way after he unsuccessfully contested Laikipia County senatorial seat. The last time that the former Mungiki leader tried his luck in politics was in 2022 polls when he was in Azimio.
