Nyanza leaders meet President Ruto, defect to UDA

President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Monday hosted politicians from Luo Nyanza province.

The more than 30 leaders promised to work with President Ruto and his administration to deliver development projects to the people of Nyanza. The leaders mainly politicians included former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero, former Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma, former Migori Governor Okoth Obado, former Senator Rose Nyamunga Ogendo, Former Nyatike MP David Anyanga and former KANU women leader Betty Adera among others.

The Politicians said time was ripe for Nyanza to embrace the government in power. “As we speak here, we have already joined UDA with our supporters at the grassroots,” said Anyanga.

On his part President Ruto said his administration will work with all leaders from across the political divide to transform our economy and uplift millions of Kenyans, especially those at the bottom of the economic pyramid.

The following day the politicians led by governor Kidero were officially received to the ruling UDA party by Secretary General Cleophas Malala who also presided over the folding of six affiliate political parties to join UDA party. The parties including Farmers Party, National Agenda Party, Economic Freedom Party, Chama Cha Mashinani and others will now operate under the UDA umbrella.

Speaking during the event held at the UDA offices along Ngong Road, Dr. Kidero sensationally claimed that “Anybody who is not in UDA is not a leader in Luo Nyanza,”
