Murkomen Orders DCI to Arrest Goons Before Political Rallies Turn Violent

Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has firmly directed security agencies to implement proactive measures, such as arresting individuals who facilitate goonism, before they disrupt political rallies.

“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) must not wait until goons are present at a rally. They need to take preventive actions and make arrests beforehand,” he emphasized.

He also encouraged Kenyans to refrain from supporting and attending rallies organized by politicians who engage in or condone goonism.

“I advise Kenyans to avoid rallies led by politicians accompanied by goons,” he urged.

Murkomen highlighted that lives could have been lost during the Linda Mwananchi rally in Homa Bay if police had not acted swiftly to prevent violence.

“Had the National Police Service, Inspector General, and DCI not apprehended those criminals prior to the rally, we would be discussing a very different situation. More lives could have been at risk without their timely intervention based on intelligence reports,” stated the CS.

He called on political leaders to collaborate closely with security agencies, noting that the Linda Mwananchi organizers disregarded security advisories and continued to mobilize goons.

“I urge all politicians to engage with security officials and adhere to security protocols to ensure the safety of their gatherings,” he said.

“It is disheartening to see them portray themselves as innocent when they are the ones orchestrating goon mobilization,” he added, critiquing the opposition for supporting and bailing out individuals involved in violence when faced with charges.

Murkomen delivered these remarks in Oldonyiro, Isiolo County, during a Youth and Women Empowerment Program.
