Light International School Celebrates Year 13 Graduates with Inspiring Ceremony in Nairobi

Nairobi, Kenya – June 14, 2025 — Light International School marked a significant milestone as it hosted its annual Year 13 Graduation Ceremony at the esteemed Ole Sereni Hotel in Nairobi. The event brought together education stakeholders, parents, dignitaries, and students to celebrate the achievements of the class of 2025, emphasizing themes of global citizenship, values-based leadership, and lifelong learning.

The ceremony was highlighted by inspiring speeches from eminent leaders committed to education and character development. Mr. Daniel Juma Omondi, Africa Regional Representative and Kenya Country Director at the Global Peace Foundation (GPF), delivered the keynote address. He urged the graduates to become ambassadors of peace and unity, emphasizing education’s vital role in shaping ethical, compassionate, and innovative leaders.

“Education is the great equalizer—it equips young people not just to earn a living, but to live purposefully and lead boldly,” Mr. Juma stated. “As you step into the next chapter of life, be ambassadors of peace and unity. The world needs leaders who are not only knowledgeable but also principled and empathetic.”

The event also featured a motivating speech by Prof. Stephen Mbugua, Vice Chancellor of the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA), who praised the school’s academic rigor and moral foundation. He encouraged graduates to embrace continuous learning and see their journey as just beginning.

“I have walked through your halls and witnessed your innovation, character, and academic excellence,” Prof. Mbugua remarked. “You are not just graduates—you are global citizens, well-prepared to contribute meaningfully to the world. Embrace lifelong learning as you transition to university and beyond.”

Mr. Ramsi Hasanli, Principal of Light International School, reaffirmed the institution’s mission to nurture holistic, globally-minded individuals. “We do not just educate the mind—we shape the soul. Our mission is to graduate not only scholars but responsible citizens ready to serve humanity.”

The ceremony underscored the ongoing collaboration between GPF Kenya, the Harmony Institute, and other educational institutions in promoting values-based education. Initiatives like the Character and Creativity Initiative and the Great Place to School Program exemplify their commitment to holistic development—integrating academic excellence with moral integrity.

As the Class of 2025 embarks on their next journey, they carry with them not only knowledge but a profound sense of purpose and responsibility to lead, innovate, and positively impact their communities and nations.

The event was further graced by the presence of the Vice Chancellor of CUEA, Prof. Stephen Mbugua, who congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to pursue lifelong learning and service.

With this inspiring send-off, Light International School continues to uphold its legacy of nurturing responsible, globally-minded leaders ready to make a difference in the world.
