KDF officer lynched in Mombasa after threatening Boda Boda rider

In a shocking incident in Mombasa, a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer was lynched by a mob after he allegedly threatened a boda boda rider with a gun over a fare dispute. The confrontation occurred when the officer, who had just been transported by the rider, refused to pay for the service.

According to a police report obtained by Citizen Digital, the incident escalated when boda boda rider Antony Otieno demanded payment after taking the officer from Likoni Primary Vyemani Grounds on Friday. During the altercation, the officer fired several shots into the air and reportedly injured two individuals, who are now receiving treatment for their bullet wounds. In the chaos, it was noted that Otieno suffered a bite to his nose from the deceased.

The injured parties were rushed to Likoni Sub-County Hospital, where they are currently recuperating.

Authorities from Inuka Police Station responded to the scene, where they recovered a firearm, 12 rounds of ammunition, the motorcycle involved, a mobile phone, and four spent cartridges, all of which have been retained as evidence.

The body of the KDF officer has been taken to Coast General Mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination. This incident has raised concerns about safety and the use of firearms within civilian contexts, prompting calls for further investigation.
