Kanda Bongo Man Pays Tribute to Raila Odinga

Congolese music legend and king of “kwasa kwasa, Kanda Bongo Man, has paid a moving tribute to the late former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga, describing him as “a man of the people and a true African leader.”

The veteran soukous star, known for his fedora signature cap, shared that he once had a personal encounter with Raila during his time as Prime Minister — a moment that left a lasting impression on him.

“When Raila Odinga was Prime Minister, he invited me to his office. We spoke about music, unity, and the importance of bringing people together through art. I’ll never forget how warm, humble, and genuine he was,” Kanda Bongo Man recalled.

He went on to say that Raila’s influence went beyond politics, touching lives across Africa through his vision, courage, and love for people.

“Raila was not only a leader for Kenya, but for the entire continent. His spirit of peace and unity will live on forever,” he added.

Kanda Bongo Man is famous for moving dancing styles that wowed many people in mid 90s to early 2000s. His famous song is “Inde monie”, which he sung in honour of a lady called Monica.
