IEBC clears David Ochieng and Daniel Odhiambo for Ugenya seat

Ugenya MP David Ochieng has successfully presented his papers to the Independent and Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and given the greenlight to defend the Ugenya parliamentary seat on his Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG) party ticket.

Ochieng will now face off with Dr. Daniel Odhiambo popularly known as daktari who was also cleared to run for the legislative seat on the Orange Democratic Party (ODM) ticket. Daktari who was given direct nomination by the orange party after facing a stiff competition from city lawyer Roger Sagana will now try and recapture the seat the party lost on the 5th April 2019 by-elections where Ochieng beat ODM’s Chris Karan, GDDP’s Daniel Juma and Third Way Alliance’s Brian Omondi to recapture the seat he had lost in 2017.

ODM.s defeat in a constituency considered its stronghold made the party to institute reforms in efforts to rebrand and reposition itself for the future. However although the party conducted nominations in other areas, it resorted to consensus in Ugenya that saw Daktari bag the ticket.
