Global Peace Foundation Kenya welcomes new Board Members and Chairperson

On December 13, 2024, the Global Peace Foundation Kenya (GPF Kenya) held a pivotal board meeting during which new members were inaugurated. The online meeting, chaired by Mr. Michael Sommers from Washington, D.C., marked a significant transition in leadership within the organization.

Rev. Canon Rosemary Mbogo has been appointed as the new Chairperson of GPF Kenya, succeeding Mr. Insu Choi, who has stepped down from the role. Canon Mbogo, a distinguished leader within the Anglican Church of Kenya, previously served as the Provincial Secretary and is a former Chairperson of the National Council of Churches of Kenya (N.C.C.K.). She is also an advisor to the Global Peace Women International. With a Bachelor of Education and a Master’s in Theology and Biblical Counseling, she is well-equipped to lead the foundation. Canon Mbogo is also an accomplished author, having penned several books focused on uplifting women and spiritual leadership.

Joining the board are new members Dr. Stephen Njoroge, former CEC of Nyandarua County, Father Canice Chinyeaka Enyiaka, the Africa Regional Representative of GPF, and Ms. Diana Kwamboka. Continuing their service are Mr. Daniel Juma Omondi, Mr. David Caprara, and Mr. Mike Sommers. Ms. Mary Kimonye and Dr. Markenday Rai have stepped down after their long and dedicated service on the board.

Founded in 2009, the Global Peace Foundation is an international, non-sectarian, and non-partisan nonprofit organization that champions a values-based approach to peacebuilding. Guided by the vision of “One Family under God,” GPF engages a global network of partners to develop community, national, and regional peacebuilding models that foster ethical and cohesive societies.

With its new leadership, GPF Kenya aims to strengthen its mission of promoting peace and unity, furthering its impact in the region and beyond.
