Global Peace Foundation Kenya Pays Tribute to Pope Francis, Hails His Legacy of Interfaith Unity and Compassion.

[NAIROBI, Kenya] – The Global Peace Foundation Kenya has joined the world in mourning the passing of Pope Francis, remembering him as “a humble shepherd for humanity” whose life embodied interfaith harmony and radical compassion for the marginalized.

In a moving tribute signed by Country Representative Daniel Juma Omondi, the Foundation highlighted the Pontiff’s alignment with their ‘One Family Under God’ vision, championed by founder Dr. Hyun Jin Preston Moon. “Pope Francis didn’t just preach unity—he lived it,” wrote Omondi. “From embracing refugees to washing prisoners’ feet, he showed us that God’s love knows no borders of faith or nationality.” The tribute underscored the late Pope’s fearless advocacy for immigrants amid global hostility, calling him a “moral compass” who challenged societies to see “the face of Christ in the displaced.” His historic interfaith outreach—including prayers at Jerusalem’s Western Wall and visits to mosques—was praised as a model for peaceful coexistence. The Foundation also honored his environmental justice legacy through Laudato Si’, noting its resonance with their work in sustainable peacebuilding. “He reminded us that caring for the Earth and the oppressed are sacred duties,” Omondi added. As condolences pour in globally, the tribute urges continued action on the Pope’s final message: “Build bridges, not walls. Serve the poor, not power.”
