Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua surprised many by visiting Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua at her residence in Gichugu, Kirinyaga County, on January 25. Accompanied by his wife, Dorcas Rigathi, and several allies, including Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba, Naivasha MP Jane Kihara, Kipipiri MP Wanjiku Muhia, and Kirinyaga Senator James Murango. Gachagua brought gifts such as sheep and many farm produce. This gesture sparked speculation about potential political realignments as the nation approaches the 2027 General Election.
Following their meeting, Gachagua announced a newfound partnership with Martha Karua. He expressed that they are committed to collaborating with other dedicated Kenyans to enhance the country’s welfare. “I am thrilled to share that we have had a productive conversation with the honorable Martha Wangari Karua, and we have resolved to work together with other citizens,” Gachagua affirmed.
He further emphasized the importance of unity among leaders, stating that they must not allow fear to deter them from addressing the nation’s challenges. Gachagua praised Karua for her unwavering dedication to public service and her relentless pursuit of justice, which have earned her respect from him and admiration from countless Kenyans and international observers.
“This meeting is a testament to the idea that, despite the often-contentious nature of political rivalry, there are valuable lessons to be learned that can pave the way for collaboration,” Gachagua added. He underscored the potential for former adversaries to join forces, harnessing their diverse perspectives and experiences to drive meaningful change in the country.
As political dynamics shift in the lead-up to the next elections, this unexpected alliance could signal a new chapter in Kenyan politics, one where cooperation takes precedence over rivalry for the greater good.
