CS Kindiki orders probe into Jeff Mwathi’s death

Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof Kithure Kindiki has ordered the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mohamed Amin to heighten investigations into the mysterious death of Geoffrey Mwathi at the home of a mugithi artist DJ Fatxo in Kasarani last month.

The CS Kindiki directed the DCI boss to involve the expertise of homicide detectives to help solve the case. “On the matter of the late Jeff Mwathi, have spoken to the DCI Mr Amin this morning and instructed him to send a homicide team from the DCI headquarters to thoroughly investigate the incident and take the necessary action,” the CS wrote.

Mwathi reportedly died on February 22nd after jumping through the window of the apartment at around 5.47 am. His body was transferred to the morgue before he was buried at his rural home on March 3, 2023. There were claims of collusion between Fatxo and officers at Kasarani Police Station, prompting Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki to intervene.

According to reports, the man was in the company of the DJ and other friends who went to four nightclubs after finalising a business deal on decorating a shop for the artist. When they went back to the apartment, the artist is said to have left the room. Mwathi was left in the company of his cousin and others.

Before meeting the entertainer, Mwathi was in constant communication with his mother who works in Qatar. From the WhatsApp audio messages, the young man was excited to work with DJ Fatxo on the job.
