In a heart-breaking development, two of the three young men who were allegedly abducted in Mlolongo last December have been found dead.
Justus Mutumwa’s body was positively identified at the Nairobi Funeral Home, formerly known as City Mortuary. Mutumwa disappeared on December 16, 2024, alongside Martin Mwau and Karani Muema, prompting a month-long search by their families for answers.
The situation has taken a further grim turn with the identification of Martin Mwau’s body, also located at the same funeral home. While Mutumwa’s body was confirmed, details surrounding the circumstances of Mwau’s recovery remain unclear.
Family sources indicate that Mutumwa’s body was collected from Ruai and brought to the Nairobi Funeral Home on December 18, just two days after his disappearance. This information comes despite ongoing denials from senior police officials about the whereabouts of the three young men.
The timing of these discoveries coincides with a court appearance by Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mohammed Amin on Thursday. During the proceedings, both officials reiterated their lack of knowledge regarding the missing individuals, with Amin stating that the investigation is still active.
The alarming circumstances surrounding the trio’s disappearance and subsequent deaths have ignited public outrage and cast doubt on police handling of the case. With two of the three Mlolongo young men confirmed dead, the pressure on authorities is mounting as families demand justice and seek clarity on the fate of Karani Muema, whose whereabouts remain unknown.
