Bill Gates to set up regional Office in Nairobi

The US billionaire announces this at a meeting with President Ruto at Statehouse

President William Ruto on 16th November at Statehouse Nairobi, held talks with Microsoft Founder Bill Gates who was in the country for a two-day visit.

During the Wednesday meeting the President said he Kenya Kwanza government will continue to collaborate will all partners towards the realisation of food security and universal health coverage.

Bill Gates commended the President on the soon to be launched Hustler Fund and said it will financially empower ordinary Kenyans generate an income and create wealth. “We look forward to seeing its success,” he said.

During the discussions Gates stated that his Foundation will set up regional headquarters in Nairobi to handle issues of Health, Agriculture and ICT.

Earlier on Gates had visited Makueni where he was hosted by Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo and announced his commitment to supporting new innovations and ingenuity aimed at improving health, food security and gender equality in African countries. He also met with medical staff and community health volunteers. He later gave a public lecture at the University of Nairobi where he spoke about Innovating for Food Security and Climate Change in Africa.
