Azimio wanted Sakaja for Nairobi seat says Tim Wanyonyi

Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi.

Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi has today said that Azimio had fronted Sakaja to be it’s Nairobi governor candidate in the last election.

The member of parliament was speaking during an interdenominational prayer and thanksgiving service in Shinyalu, Kakamega County.

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula and other key leaders from Western Kenya were present. Mr Wanyonyi exuded confidence that he will be the next Nairobi County governor in 2027 general elections

The MP blamed his tribesmen as the reason why he didn’t go for the County’s big seat. “The worst of it is that the people who campaigned to ensure I did not become Nairobi governor were my fellow Luhyas. They went to tell Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta that I cannot be Nairobi governor because I didn’t fit the position and could wait for another slot,” Wanyonyi said.

But the MP is now confident that the current Luhya unity will work to his advantage, and propel him to Nairobi governorship.
“I’m coming back, 2027 I’ll be the governor of Nairobi God willing. Now we have the Western MPs’ caucus that I will be working with,” he said.

“They are going to propel me forward. Today we are here with the National Assembly speaker Moses Wetang’ula and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, this means that Luhya unity is finally here,” he said.
