Anyang Nyong’o to lead ODM during Raila’s absence

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has designated Kisumu governor Anyang’ Nyong’o to lead ODM during periods of his absence.

The decision by Raila is in light of his gruelling campaign schedule and the need for him to focus on his bid for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairperson seat.

ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna made the announcement on Wednesday following a meeting of the Central Management Committee chaired by Raila to deliberate on internal party affairs and also matters affecting the people and the nation of Kenya at large.

“These regular meetings allow us to review the current state of affairs as a Party founded on values of democracy, multi-party democracy and participation of the people,” he said.

Sifuna added that ODM conducts its affairs with openness and always brief the public of the deliberations and resolutions of these meetings.

“There really is therefore is no need for the sort of speculation, innuendo, and propaganda that surround our meetings,” he stated.
