A young pupil from Eldoret has become the centre of attention after delivering a memorable poem on environmental conservation that impressed leaders and residents alike. Kigan Kipkemboi, a learner at Aturei Adventist School, showcased remarkable confidence and talent during a county meeting held in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.

The event, which was attended by Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim and other officials, took an inspiring turn when the schoolboy was invited to perform. Standing before the audience in his school uniform, Kipkemboi confidently took the microphone and delivered a well-crafted poem that highlighted the importance of protecting the environment for future generations.

Using clear language and strong voice projection, the young poet demonstrated impressive oratory skills beyond his age. He blended humour with serious messages, keeping the audience engaged while passing across a strong call for environmental responsibility. His use of the local dialect added authenticity to his performance and helped connect his message with the audience.

Guests listened attentively throughout the performance, often breaking into laughter and applause as Kipkemboi skillfully delivered his lines. His short but impactful presentation earned him praise from attendees, many of whom were visibly moved by his passion and confidence.

Governor Bii was particularly touched by the boy’s message and talent. After the performance, he invited Kipkemboi forward, commended him publicly, and rewarded him with a cash gift as the crowd applauded. In a rare and memorable moment, the governor allowed the young poet to sit on his official chair as the meeting continued.

As Kipkemboi sat proudly, guests approached him with sweets and additional cash gifts to appreciate his performance. Later, the governor shared a video of the poem on social media, where Kenyans praised the boy’s courage, talent, and powerful message.
