Anita Soina Celebrates Student She Mentored Joining Grade 10

Renowned environmentalist Anita Soina is celebrating a deeply personal milestone after a young boy she has supported and mentored for years excelled in his Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) and secured placement in a reputable secondary school. The achievement has brought immense joy to Soina, who describes the experience as unexpectedly becoming a “mother” through mentorship and purpose.

The boy, identified as Kipruto Brian, also known as Arap Chirchir, first met Soina in 2024 in Malel Mosoriot. He approached her with his drawings and passion for environmental conservation, asking for a chance to speak with her. Moved by his confidence and creativity, Soina gave him an audience and even invited him to speak at an event where she was a guest, making him the chief guest of the day. That encounter marked the beginning of a life-changing journey for the young student.

Convinced their meeting was no coincidence, Soina pledged to support Kipruto’s education. She later invited him to Nairobi, where he experienced the city for the first time and attended several high-profile events. These included a children’s summit held ahead of the inaugural Africa Climate Summit, where he interacted with environmental leaders and mentors who further inspired him.

During his visits, Kipruto met notable individuals and organisations that welcomed and hosted him warmly. He was also invited to State House during the First Lady’s Mazingira Awards and attended events in Kajiado, where he delivered an impressive speech that showcased his growth and confidence.

Kipruto has now emerged second in his school and is set to join Grade 10 at Metetei Boys High School, a milestone Soina says confirms the bright future she always believed he had. She expressed pride in his resilience and determination, noting that her journey of supporting him has not been easy, as she also assists other children, family members, and friends through her foundation.
