Joshua arap Sang threatens to sue critic over 2007/08 PEV involvement

Former ICC suspect and ex-radio presenter Joshua Arap Sang has sparked online controversy by threatening to sue a critic for accusing him of involvement in the 2007/08 post-election violence (PEV) in Kenya.

Sang took to X on December 21 to address a user named Nyamisa Chelagat, promising legal action in January for what he claims are unfounded allegations.

In his post, Sang shared a screenshot of a direct message he sent to Chelagat, stating, “This one must meet me in court in January so that she can present the evidence she alleges I participated in the 2007/8 PEV.” He warned that such accusations could lead to a return to the ICC.

Sang previously served as the head of Kass FM, a Kalenjin-language station, where he was accused by the ICC of inciting violence during the PEV. However, he has consistently denied these claims, asserting he promoted peace on air during the crisis.

In April 2016, the ICC dropped charges against Sang and former Deputy President William Ruto, citing political interference as a key reason. The judges ruled that there was no case to answer, clearing Sang of the allegations linked to the violence.
