25 hospitalized in Bomet after consuming dead cow meat

Twenty-five individuals, including both children and adults, have been hospitalized in the Masindoni area of Chepalungu, Bomet County, after consuming meat from a dead cow.

According to Bomet County Police Commandant Edward Imbwaga, the cow, which belonged to a local resident, had been sick for two weeks before it died.

A police report indicates that the victims experienced severe symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea shortly after consuming the contaminated meat. In response to the situation, area chief Richard Koech, alongside Nyumba Kumi community members, coordinated efforts to transport the affected individuals to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

Authorities are urging residents to refrain from consuming meat from animals that have died under suspicious circumstances to prevent similar incidents in the future. Further investigations are ongoing to assess the situation and provide support to those affected.
