
Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is marking a significant milestone today, January 7, as he celebrates his 80th birthday.
Born in Maseno on this day in 1945 to the late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga and Mary Juma Odinga, Raila’s birthday has been met with an outpouring of goodwill and congratulations from supporters, politicians, and citizens across the nation.

Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris shared her admiration for Raila, describing him as a remarkable statesman. “Your unwavering commitment to Kenya has profoundly shaped our nation and inspired countless individuals,” she remarked, also wishing him success in his bid for the African Union Commission Chair position, with elections scheduled for February 2024. “May you achieve all your aspirations; the continent is eager for your leadership!” she added.
ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna was among those celebrating, saying, “Happy Birthday Baba Raila Odinga. Kila la heri mwaka huu na ubarikiwe siku zote za maisha yako.” Senator Hamida Kibwana echoed similar sentiments, praising Raila’s visionary leadership and dedication to the nation.
MP George Kaluma added a personal touch, stating, “Like wine, you’ve matured with the passage of time. It is time for Africa.
