Controller of Budget Margaret Nyakang’o’s 15B confession

A day after Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua revealed that Kshs.24B were stolen by government officials in Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration, the Controller of Budget Margaret Nyakang’o has come out to confess that she authorised the withdrawal of Kshs. 15B.

Appearing before the Parliamentary Public Petitions Committee, Nyakang’o says she was forced by state officers in Uhuru’s government to sign out Ksh15B days to the General Election.

Nyakang’o told MPs that she was threatened to release Sh6 billion for the purchase of Telcos and Sh9.5 billion from the annuity fund a few days before the election.

To prove her allegations, the Controller of Budget produced conversations she says she had with former Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yattani who alerted her that the President might call her if the approval wasn’t made by 4:00 pm of that day. Nyakang’o questioned asking if they only had 26 minutes to make the approval after which Yatani got back to her saying that the President had called and he had assured him that everything was going to be processed by the end of the day.
