
Mombasa, 20th June 2025 – The Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF), General Charles Kahariri, today presided over the 15th Board of Directors Meeting of Kenya Shipyards Limited (KSL) in Mombasa.
The meeting reviewed the company’s audited financial reports, assessed progress on ongoing projects, and formally recognized KSL’s attainment of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification—a testament to its adherence to global standards in quality, safety, and operational efficiency.
In his address, General Kahariri emphasized KSL’s pivotal role in strengthening national security, fostering economic growth, and promoting maritime stability in the region.
He reiterated the government’s dedication to transforming Kenya’s maritime sector and positioning KSL as a leading regional hub for shipbuilding and marine engineering.

The KSL Managing Director, Major General Mohammed Farah, provided the Board with updates on current operations, including ship construction, refit, and maintenance initiatives.
Following the deliberations, the Board members conducted an inspection tour of the shipyard, engaging with technical personnel and assessing ongoing infrastructure upgrades aimed at enhancing operational capacity.
The meeting underscored KSL’s continued progress in advancing Kenya’s blue economy agenda and reinforcing the nation’s maritime capabilities.
