Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya leader Raila Odinga has issued a 14 day ultimatum to President William Ruto to fix the rising high cost of living failure to which there will be country wide mass action.
“Mr. Ruto’s illegitimate administration has 14 days to reduce the cost of living and halt the IEBC hiring process. Azimio will mobilize mass action if they fail, and there will be no turning back.” He said
The former Prime Minister issued the ultimatum during the Azimio National Prayers held at the Jeevanjee Gardens in Nairobi on Wednesday, February 22. Odinga said Kenyans had “grown tired of the Kenya Kwanza administration’s hide-and-seek games on the cost of living”.
“We have been talking about the rising cost of basic commodities like unga, electricity, diesel, petrol, paraffin, sugar, milk, among others for far too long. We have complained about rising taxes, and we have lately talked about children dropping out of school for lack of fees,” said Odinga
Odinga also said it was reckless and heartless for the government to withdraw subsidies to food and education in the middle of drought and famine. he wants the subsidies restored and for the cost of basic commodities and taxes must come down in the next 14 days.
Responding to Odinga, President William Ruto dismissed the ODM leader and said that Kenya is a nation of law and order and that he will not entertain threats from the opposition leaders.
