US Ambassador to Ukraine Kristina Kvien has sent a strong message to Russian president Vladimir Putin and said that Russia has failed in their war against Ukraine.
Kristina said this as she led other US diplomats in setting up operations in Lviv Ukraine after weeks of relocating their embassy in the wake of Russian attacks in Ukraine.
“Ukraine is still standing, the government is still functioning and we are going back to Lviv first and the Kyiv to help the government” said Ambassador Kvien.
They were joined by the Hungarian and Danish colleagues who have already re-opened their embassies in Kyiv.
Washington had initially moved some of its consular functions to the western city of Lviv before eventually relocating to Poland.
Kvien’s statements come the recent visit to Kyiv by US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi which followed the earlier visit by Pentagon chief Austin Lloyd and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken all of whom held talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
