Reflecting back from independence when the late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga stood with the late Mzee Jomo Kenyatta only to be made the Vice president when he had opportunity to be the president then, it was a sacrifice.
That sacrifice and kind heartedness has not only costed us the Luo Nation the leadership of this country but also perennial deaths caused by assassinations triggered by the successional governments including that of Kenyatta senior to Kenyatta junior.
The blood of Luos assassinated and murdered by the successional governments is still flowing in the rivers of this country. A community whose only crime has been demanding for democracy and good governance has seen it all. Our repulsive nature has not only made the Luo Nation a target for the blood thirsty killers but also development.
Since Jaramogi Oginga Odinga died we the Luo Nation have only known one leader, Raila Amollo Odinga a man who earned our confidence through his vigorous fight for democracy in this country. A man detained and exiled by the very people who are beneficiaries of his dad’s agitation for independence.
As we much on to the election in 2022, I want to urge Luo Nation not to be swayed by the Uhuru matric of political innuendoes in the name of some BBI. We must reject this political bureaucracy and focus on a Raila presidency.
Let’s not tire and let’s not be boxed into early celebration to buy time and take us for a ride. Presidency is a must with or without BBI.
