Politics dominates former Ugenya MP Stephen Ondiek’s Memorial

The home of former Ugenya MP and former Cabinet Minister Archbishop Stephen Ondiek was the center of Siaya politics during the memorial service of the former long serving legislator who passed on more than a decade ago.

During the service attended by former, current and aspiring politicians, politics took center stage. EALA representative Dr Oburu Odinga asked Ugenya member of Parliament to fold his party and join ODM. David Ochieng however described the request as impossible.

Ondiek who died on 10th September 2011 had served as Ugenya legislator for 5 terms since his first election in 1983 until 2007 when he lost the seat to his brother in Law who is the current Siaya Senator James Orengo in 2007.

Siaya senator James Orengo openly endorsed Dr Oburu for Senate a move that seemed to confirm the romours that James Orengo will be going for Siaya gubernatorial seat.

Opiyo Wandayi who is also said to be eying Siaya gubernatorial seat asked voters to be vigilant and ensure they elect competent leaders.

Ugenya parliamentary aspirant Rodger Sagana who is vying on an ODM seat asked Ugenya resident to give the seat back to the party. Other candidates aspiring for Ugenya parliamentary seat are Hon Daniel Juma and Dr Daniel Odhiambo
