Kampala denies knowledge of William Ruto’s visit to Uganda

Hon Okello Oryem

The Ugandan government has said it wasn’t official notified of Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto’s intended visit to Uganda.

In a statement posted in social media under the headline “H. E.William Ruto Abortive Trip to Uganda“, the Ugandan ministry of foreign affairs’ protocol department said they had no record whatsoever that there was a request for them to provide protocol services to His Excellency Ruto.

“I was not informed by the chief of protocol being requested by the Kenyan High Commission in Uganda to provide protocol services to the deputy President,” said Hon Okello Oryem from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Oryem said that the Ugandan foreign policy was very clear that they don’t interfere in the internal affairs of any country whatsoever.

“We have no authority, we have no power over Kenyan government, they have their own reasons why they prevented HE Ruto from coming to Uganda and that should be channeled to the Kenyan High Commission” said Oryem.
