Oparanya ranked best performing governor as Nyoro of Kiambu comes last

Kakamega Governor Wyclife Ambetsa Oparanya is the best performing governor in the last Infotrak firm ranking list, announced on Wednesday, October 2020.

The survey was done considering the governors performances in the periods between 2019 and 2020.

Oparanya, who scored (82.3%) in the performance ranking was followed by his Kwale counterpart Salim Mvurya with (77.1%) when Makueni’s Kivutha Kibwana came third with (74.4%).

Kisumu County governor Proffesor Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o came fourth and topped Nyanza region. Among those who appeared in the top ten (10) list were; John Longangapuo (West Pokot), Jackson Mandago (Uasin Gishu), Josphat Nanok (Turkana), Muthoni Njuk (Tharaka Nithi) and Hillary Barchok of Bomet.

The firm ranked the governors based on their performances on the devolved functions such as Education , Health, Infrastructure and Agriculture among others.

Makueni, governed by Kivutha Kibwana was ranked as the most improved county, basing on the fact that it jumped from position 40 in the last 2015 ranking to position 3 this year.

Kakamega county topped the list in terms of development, followed by Kwale at (57.2%) and (54.8%) respectively.

West Pokot and Makueni were among the best performing counties in terms of Agriculture. Others were Bungoma and Uasin Gishu. Kwale county was the best in education, followed by Kakamega, West Pokot, Makueni, Uasin Gishu and Kisumu respectively. Kiambu governor James Nyoro became the least performing governor with (33.0%).
