Nominated senator Isaac Mwaura is now officially out of the senate after the senate speaker Kenneth Lusaka gazetted his removal.
“It is notified for the information of the general public that pursuant to article 103(1) e (i) of the constitution and section 37 of the elections Act, the seat of the member of the senate elected under article 98 (1) (d) of the Constitution and held by Hon. Isaac Mwaura Maigua became vacant, with effect from 7th May 2021.” Read the gazette notice.
This move by Lusaka came in the wake of political parties’ dispute tribunal dismissing the appeal of Isaac Mwaura.
The nominated senator had appealed his removal arguing that the Jubilee Party did not kick him out properly.

However, according to the tribunal, Isaac Mwaura was properly dismissed by the party’s national Disciplinary Committee. The PPDT further ruled that the disciplinary mechanisms were all exhausted and that the tribunal had the mandate to listen to his appeal.
The Registrar of Political Parties Ann Nderitu while acting on instructions from Jubilee removed the name of Mwaura from the list of Jubilee Party members.
