Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Kipchumba Sudi is free at last following the decision of the high court to grant him bail.
In a ruling issued this afternoon by the anti-corruption Judge Justice Mumbi Ngungi, Kipchumba Sudi was released on a cash bail of 500,000 Kenya shillings with respect to all the charges the state contemplate to level against him. Judge Mumbi ruled that the prosecution did not issue compelling reasons to continue detaining the accused person. He added that the constitution provides that each accused citizen is innocent until proven guilty.
However, the legislator was released on strict terms. The judge ordered that the accused shall not make any public utterances or comments before the investigations are complete. He shall also report to any police station as summoned by the investigating officers for purposes of completing the same. Sudi was arrested by the state following his public utterances that were considered disrespectful to President Uhuru Kenyatta together with his close family members.
