Kisii Kenya Kwanza leaders from Nyamira and Kisii regions have intensified calls to have Raila Odinga stop his Kisii rally.
The latest to issue such warning against Raila’s country-wide anti-Ruto campaigns is former Deputy Governor of the County Mr Joash Maangi.
Mr Maangi was curious to know why the former Premier readily welcomed President William Ruto in Luo Nyanza, but when it comes to the time when the President wants to bring development projects in Kisii, Mr Raila is seen to be inciting the locals against the President’s visit, in his planned Kisii rally.
“It should be noted that Mr Odinga himself welcomed the President of Kenya, Dr William Ruto, with open arms in Luo Nyanza, during the homecoming of Cabinet Secretary (CS) Eliud Owalo. He in fact sent none other than the seasoned politician and the governor of Siaya James Orengo, who delivered his apologies and greetings,” said Mr Maangi.
“We as Gusii leaders reject this attempt and condemn it in the strongest terms possible. Mr Odinga should leave us alone as Omogusii to chat about our own political future which is at the moment with Dr Ruto,” said Mr Maangi.
However, other than the Kisii rally planned by the Azimio, there is a division in Abagusi land on who to welcome the President, and who is speaking on his behalf. Many leaders are claiming to be speaking for the President. Yesterday, there were different leaders who held different pressers, to convey their disappointment with the Kisii rally planned by the Azimio coalition leader. The two pressers seemed to pass the same message, but with different leaders all together.
