Former Kakamega senator Dr. Bony Khalwale has mourned the death of bullfighting champion Malinya Pogba, who succumbed to East Coast fever today October 17.
the bull Pogba who took the reign from the late Iminyi was crowned as December 2016 champion after wrestling seven blocky bulls during an event that took place in Malinya village in Kakamega.
Dr. Bony Khalwale confirmed the death of Pogba early this morning, saying that the blocky bull succumbed to east coast fever disease.
In his statements posted on his Facebook timeline early this morning, Khalwale described the bull as the ‘King of the beautiful game’
“The great Malinya Pogba is gone! Gone to rest with Iminyi the G.O.AT. He has just succumbed to East Coast fever. Long live the King of the beautiful game!” Khalwale posted.
Bullfighting has been a Luhya community cultural practice during social events such as funerals and wedding ceremonies. The occasion is normally a great personal experience attended by large crowds who get excited to follow the event.
However, such events have been suspended by the Government as a preventive measure to reduce the spread of Corona virus infections, since the breakout of the pandemic
